I am planning an event with Boy Scouts and besides a regular snack I want to give them something that looks like some type of bug but I can't find anything. Does anyone have any ideas? Something that looks like a grub would be great.

This should be pretty easy. Jelly worms and things like that can be added to oreo crumbs, chocolate pudding and such to make dirt, mud and other gross things. Go to a candy store and they should have pre-molded bugs, insects and all sorts of bug candy. Save some of the work!

freeze jellomix with pudding into shape you want!
or get gummy words and dip them in cholocate just need chololate chips and criso nuke it and dip it then chill it then eat it!
cupcakes with a little deco of a bug on top with iceing could be sweet!
or rice pudding!
that's all i can think of for that!

When I was in girl scouts we made "dirt desert." I found the recipe on line.
2 (8 oz.) cream cheese
2 (3 oz.) instant vanilla pudding
3 c. milk
2 (16 oz.) Cool Whip
2 tsp. vanilla
1 lg. pkg. Oreo cookies
Gummy worms
Plastic flower pot with no holes
Cream sugar and cream cheese. Beat milk, pudding and vanilla until thick, then add to cream cheese mixture. Fold in Cool Whip. Grind Oreo cookies in blender.
Layer Oreo mixture and creamy mixture, hiding gummy worms in flower pot, ending with cookie mixture on top. Chill overnight.

You can make "spiders" out of cupcakes with pretzel sticks stuck in the sides with peppercorn eyes, or "ants on a log" raisins on celery with cream cheese, or "snakes" made out of breadstick dough (pillsbury container) just shape them into snake like shapes, put peppercorns for eyes, piece of pimento for a tongue. Also a devils food cake, baked in a flower pot, with gummy worms. Gummy worms are fun in punch too

Give them REAL bugs. You can buy roasted grasshoppers in many ethnic stores.
After all. if they are scouts, they need to be able to survive on whatever they can find.......
