The majority of the responses from Christians said one version of the four following comments as to the PURPOSE of life:
1) to make the ultimate decision as to whether or not we worship God.
2) to spread the word/tell others so they can avoid hell.
3) to know, love and serve God.
4) to live a happy existence.

Now, the Christian God is allegedly omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. Shouldnt this all powerful God not have ANY needs? Not having any needs thus negates our existence. In other words, had God NOT created mankind, there would be no need to make an ultimate decision, to tell others, to know/love/serve God, or to be happy.

So, again, I ask the Christians, what is the purpose of our lives? Why did God create us? If it was to fulfill some need, then the God cannot be all powerful, as he is needy. RIGHT?

If we are created for his purpose and his pleasure, then that would mean that he lacked purpose and pleasure prior to our creation - thus making him imperfect - and thus not God. Why is this so hard to grasp?

Mibandibee - could it all have been prevented - the whole sin thing, the whole sending his son to die for our sins - by not creating us? Why cant you people grasp the concept Im stating here???

The God of Abraham is a Jewish patriarch circa 800 BC, polished up and perfected according to the men's image of themselves at that time.

Is it any wonder that our leadership is all screwed up in the head; anyone trying to follow this God and bible is regressive and repressive.

By any reasonable morality, the God of the bible and Abraham is angry, capricious, misogynistic, violent, and vituperative.

Not 'omni' anything.

God does not NEED us to do anything. The things you have listed above are our RESPONSIBILITIES, not God's needs.

1) At some point we come to a decision if we are going to serve God or not. Where is the neediness in that?

2) Had Adam and Eve been faithful when they were tempted by Satan, there would be no word to spread. We would all be perfectly happy, healthy people and there would be no DEATH.

3) We serve God out of love, not out of his need. 1 John 5: 3

4) God created us in his image. The bible describes him as a happy God. It's not his need, it's our nature that we live a happy existence.

He created us for Him. To love and worship Him and He had a plan of salvation through Jesus Christ from the beginning, because of His great love- He knew sin would separate us from Him forever, so He made a way through Jesus Christ, and that is WHY WE LIVE. The reason for our lives is Jesus Christ.....and there is nothing more important than your eternal salvation in Him.
Colossians 1:16
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things were created through him and for him.
God deserves all the glory. He is God, and what He does is right and Good. God does not need us to better himself, He is God and has always been God. But obviously his love is so awesome, that He would make a way for those who believe in Him to be with him! Think about it....He could of all made us for hell. But no, His lovingkindess DOES endure forever- and His mercy is wonderful. But after this life it will be too late...that is why we who love Him share His gospel of salvation, because He wants us too---this is His way, and He calls us who love Him, to share His truth with others.

God doesn't need us, at all. God is all powerful, yes, but our worship to him is not a factor of his importance or his existence. who knows, this universe is pretty big dont you think? maybe theres other life out there that worships God too. since i believe that God is perfect...he is complete and can not have any needs...just desires: our love and praise, our hearts, our everything is what he would love from us. The purpose of our lives is to live our lives to their fullest, however God has set this out for each of us. To do it for God to show Him how greatful we are for what he has given us. "For I know the plans I have for you Declares the LORD. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a Future" Jeremiah 29:11

The church, which is actually the entirety of Christ believers throughout the ages, is known as "the bride of Christ".

Where you go from there is between you and our Father God.
Until the gathering, go with

worship God.
spread the word
love and serve God.
live a happy existence

We were created for His pleasure and for His purposes. Good is not needy, we are. We can continue being with Him after we die, but we do not have to. : )

You have a choice to make.
