She seems alright, she plays around, she goes to the bathroom, she doesn't seem depressed or anything like that. It's just that everytime I open a can of wet food she just eats a lil bit and then she stops and leaves the rest there...

I tried changing the food brand but didn't work. I tried to change the water bowl just in case, I tried changing the food bowl, I even tried giving her treats before she would eat...NONE OF THAT WORKED!

Cats have evolved to hide the tell-tale signs of sickness - after all, in the wild, the sick animals are most likely to be taken down by whatever's above them on the food chain.

With that in mind, one of the symptoms of illness that IS readily apparent is lack of appetite. If your cat won't eat, there is a good chance that there is something wrong with her. A trip to the vet is definitely in order!! The sooner the better.

One other thing... had you changed the type or brand of cat food you were feeding her before she stopped eating? Abrupt changes in food aren't really good for pets. Even when you're moving your cat from kitten food to adult food, you're supposed to mix the two foods at first (half and half for the first week, then 3/4 new food and 1/4 old food the next week, then finally moving to 100% new food). This'll help her digestive system adjust to the new food with minimal problems (such as vomiting, lack of appetite, ect). You didn't mention changing the food before she stopped eating, so this probably isn't the issue, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

I hope your cat gets well soon!!

Please take your cat to the vet. My cat was doing something similar and everyone just said when she get's hungry she will eat. I brought her to the vet and they said she had a fever but nothing else so they put her on some meds and sent me off. She still wouldn't eat but seemed ok. Then she started to lose weight. I brought her back to a different Vet and she had gone into Lipidoses(sp?) (check for yellowing skin - shows up clearing around the ears) I did the instructed treatment which only had a 5% chance of saving her life but unfortunately I wasn't in that 5%. My kitty died 4 days and $500 later. I would have paid anything to save her. She was only 3 and such a great cat. So please take this not eating seriously and stress to your vet what I've written here. I would hate to see this happen to anyone else.

i have the same problem with one of my cats but she would eat treats so i knew her teeth were ok, i had recently used canned food for the first time and was afraid of that since my brand was on the list. my other cat is fine so i crossed that off. i then bought kit n' kaboodle and first put it on the floor like i did with her treats and she ate the ones i put out. then i started putting some in the feeding bowls and now she eats them out of the bowl. still isn't eating a lot but at least she's eating. she is 16 yrs old my other cat is twenty but you'd never know it. good luck

If your cat is not sick, then she just has preferences. There are some pretty nasty animals by products in some cat so you may try to go to a natural pet food like Timberwolf. There are some very good tasting natural food. They are a bit expensive but when you consider all the food you through away, it is worth the extra cost.

I always give my cat half can, 1 can per day. There is always dry food for him if he gets hungry. I would still take him to the vett and see if hes fine, it wont hurt.

When cats stop eating it often means they have a tooth ache. Take her to the vet.

She might be sick..take her to the vet. If you tried new food, try tuna or roasted chicken. If not take her to the vet.

Mabey she would prefer hard food instead. Cats can be very picky when it comes to what they'll eat.
