When the supply is in the form of food intakes like milk etc the Answer will vary from that of taking supplements.

However the absorption will vary from person to person. If any one takes tablets in excess all that will happen is it will go through one hole and come out of another!

I am pretty sure my dietitian said that no more than 500 mg can be absorbed at a time so it is a waste to take more than that in one setting. Thus I take it twice a day. But I could be totally wrong. It has been a while since we discussed it.
