I just adopted the sweetest cat from a shelter. They think she is about 2 yrs old, and she was abandoned by her previous owner because she was going to have kittens. She is white on the bottom with orange and black patches.. (Half of her face is orange, and the other half is black.. so cute!) She also has a little beard-looking patch of fur that comes to a piont under her chin!! I want a kind of unique name, and I can't think of one to fit her for the life of me!! Help me I'm desparate!

I had a Calico named Patches when I was little :-)

Guess that's not so unique huh? hehe

My cat has a pretty unique name, it's Tiza Cat. We just call her Tiza for short. Every time we go to the vet with her the vet carries her around to see everyone saying, "Look 'Tis a cat...Tiza Cat, I love her name" lol She never gets over it! So I guess it's unique :-)

How I name my pets is I make a huge list of a bunch of names I like. The whole family adds theirs and then we spend days and days going through them with each other, to see if we can picture ourselves actually saying that 50 times a day, or if it suits the animals personality.

We now have a Tiza, Jaspurr, Dusty (cockatiel) Neo and Bijou (budgies). Bijou might be cute for your cat too. It means "jewel" in french.

... My lil' calico is named Chloe (she's half orange and black headed too, but it runs down the back of her head, straight down the middle), and it suits her to a 'tee'! And you were sweet to get her from the shelter, Candice - I found Chloe in a drain pipe four years ago (we'd had a terrible thunderstorm the night before), a tiny, wet shivering ball of fur, too little to feed herself, or use the kittybox by herself. Now she's a fat lil' fuzzball, and quite spoiled (not according to her, though)..! :) ...

Sounds like she is a calico or harlequin. I clicked wikipedia commons, and found a picture that looks like your description of your cat. Her name is Phoebe. I was looking for harlequin clowns and their names. I didn't like anything except maybe Zanni.
But if you take the French word arlequin (harlequin), you can then fracture and feminize it to names like: Lakina, Arkina, A'kina.
Hope this gives you some ideas.

you could find a name generator similar to this one: http://www.ultimatehorsesite.com/info/names/generator.html
What do you think of when you see her? You could name her something like that. (eg I have a cat who was a little runt, and I named her Itty Bitty Kitty. Her son I named Fearless [mousecatcher] Because he was pretty bold, and I had a line from a movie stuck in my head about someone being fearless... and I wanted him to catch mice :D ) You could also try dropping a dictionary open, but that can sometimes be dangerous (like having a cat named deoxyribonucleic acid or something :P )

Sasha, Zena, Spirit, Shania, Sweetie, Sunshine, Kazay, Tara, Briana, Beauty, Athena, Rayna and Fuzzbucket for fun and it's spring so she'll be shedding soon.

Shania means I'm on my way
Kazay is Japanese for Rain
Tara is like Terra, Earth

I also got a rabbit from a pet shelter before, and the rabbit looks and sounds identical to your kitten, though the rabbit was already named pingu but i wanted to call him Sinas, which means in dutch orange. i find that name would suit your kitten quiet well and berly nobody names thier pet that!

When a horse has a two toned face they call it a piebald--how about calling her Pie? Or, do you have a favorite author or singer? I had two black and white cats I called Zorro and Elvis, and a dog named Shakespeare. I also had one called Sigmund (he had a goatee and looked like like a psychiatrist). If you can't think of one, look up famous women--your cat has lots of different colors so you could call her Madonna. good luck!

My sister once had a calico cat she called Patches. I thought it was kind of a common name, so I started calling her Apache. Also, I have a calico named Sasha. We also have Tia, Amber, Zoey, and Jasmine. So glad you rescued her. You're a good person.

Congratulations! First of all let me say that you are an angel for adopting a kitty from the shelter. They are so grateful for getting a good home.....you will get alot of enjoyment out of her....and alot of love.....patches does sound cute but I also like marbles for all the colors she has, and if you really want a unique name I had a yorkie, who has passed away now but I named her Sitara....pronounced like (Sa-tara). I thought it was so unique because you never hear of that name.....Good Luck with your kitty....give it lots of lovin.......
