All life come from the woman - I have a belly button that was severed from my mother. But Christians say that woman are the reason for all the woes in the world. She was the reason Adam sinned and that is why she has a period and cramps. How could woman accept this Male superiority theory??? I believe that Men and woman are equal - therefore I can not accept the story myself. What do you think?

Eds: There is A superiority complex between men and woman with Christian as we speak - Woman can not be preachers, get paid less, there has never been a woman president, woman could not even vote for the longest. Christians may say they think they are equal but reality says different.

There are a lot more physical aspects then strength - Just because we can beat a woman in an arm wrestling contest does not make us stronger!

Not to take over your question, but concerning the people who feel that christians feel men and women are equal, I pose this. Why don't all denominations that follow christ allow women to hold leadership roles in the church? There are still many denominations that do not allow women to hold ordained positions.
*Added* Subquestion:
According to biblical "law", men are not subject to be accused of adultery. Only women can commit the sin of adultery. Still considered equal though?

Men are generally much stronger but the women hold all of the beauty. GOD certainly evened up the score. There is no SUPERIORITY in the story. Eve was taken in by satan and Adam followed suit as he should have folloed his young lady to the ends of the earth he did so. I do not believe that the moral of the story is man's superiority. I believe that man and woman have different roles in life. I am not saying that women can not do anything but that they have different roles than the men do in many ways. My wife works and I am disabled so I assist by keeping house and tending to some of the homebound duties. She and I have both worked in the past and she is the most beautiful woman in my world. I would be crazy to ask for anything else from GOD. HE certainly has blessed me in her. I hope that this answers your question. Have a great day.
Thanks,
Eds
EDIT... Tattman, We do not allow women to do so because the scriptures say that they are not to do so. We read, study, and obey what is found in the New Testament Scriptures.
EDIT 2:
Roxie & Hiscinders have great comments. Thank you ladies!

What kind of "Christian" you hang out with again? Even in the Book it says woman is to be at your side, NOT behind you. And the reason she sinned, was because of the *Serpent tempting her. And her only punishment was pain through child birth. Adam was to "Till the earth." Now WHO got the harder sentence? Also consider this, if Eve would have done it on her own, how different the story would have been!

I believe Adam and Eve were both equally responsible for the sin in the garden. Yes Eve gave the fruit to Adam, but Adam was suppose to be her help mate as she was suppose to be his. They both failed.
Men and women are equal but each have different strengths. We each have different purpose. I do not think men are Superior to me in all ways but there are things a man can do that I will never do and there are things that I can do that a man will never have the ability to do.

The Bible doesn't say Eve brought sin into the world; it says Adam did. See Romans 5:12.
Christians don't believe men are superior and women inferior. There's nothing in the Bible that supports this notion.

Adam was created first. He was on earth for a long time before God created Eve. And Eve was his helpmate. His companion. Wives are to be submissive to their husbands just like the husbands are to be submissive to the Lord. You need to read more that just one verse.
Eve took the first bite of the fruit. But it was Adam that sinned first. He was there when the serpent talked to her and when her picked the fruit and bit into it. Adam's sin was that he didn't protect her from harm. He didn't stop her. And then he followed along with the same temptation and bit the fruit also.
Women hold the babies in their wombs and bear the children in labor. Yet it's the men that carry the seed to make that new life. "It takes two to tango."

Both Man and Woman were punished for the sins in the garden.
Men were cursed with the burden of 'toiling the earth' or basically, they are to work and provide for their family.
Woman were cursed with painful child bearing.
The roles of man and woman were not changed because of the original sin. Men are to be the providers and women are to be the caregivers. There is nothing sexist about it.

You can't accept the story of Adam and Eve, but yet you and the story say the same thing: Men and Women are equal. When God made Eve, He did it when Adam's rib, which mean they are equal, side by side. If men was Superior than women, then God would had made Eve with Adam's foot.

On a side how many people here know eve was the 3rd woman god created (according to one of the books in the bible that was left out during the councel of Necea?)Howmany christians here know the bible was written over a period of 10 centuries From all over the ancient middle eastern countries?
back to the question. She has periods and cramps because the fruit she took from he knowledge of the tree of life caused her to stand upright (I didn't stutter there buddy.) The bible says god punished eve by giving her painful births, periods were already and thus mild cramps as well there that's a whold frertility thing... But as puishment god narrowed her hips and adams as well so that birthing would be excruciating and even deadly but she would still seek the um.. company of Adam. Narrow hips are also the reason we have to walk upright, especially now that we've grown taller with longer arms and legs than our ancestors. That's evolution for you, but you don't have to beleive me, read your bible. And yes it was stated that adam was given dominion over eve. And yes women were to be less than men, which is why women who didn't stay virgins (even if they were raped) could should and would be stonned to death by the male members of the town, especially of her family. As for superiority yes, 2 or 3 thousand years ago men were suppose to have dominion over women, but just as eve partook of the tree of the knowledge of life (wich is it's litteral name when translated from the origional text) that bit of knowledge has been constantly growing within us, And we have grown to recognise eachother as equals. (in some cases.) and in that way I beleive that we've earned gods forgiveness and dare I say trust? So I say continue as equals, and celebrate the knowledge we've gleaned.
I also say if Sin wasn't in the world yet how did the serpant get there?
Any way... it's fun what they teach you in the private catholic schools of rome huh?
