when a chunk of tooth falls off, it changes the way you bite food. the food can get trapped in between teeth or what it sounds like in your case, is getting shoved into the gums in the area where the filling broke. they'll need to clean the infection out of your gums then do a bonding or filling. if you do not go in to the dentist soon and have it fixed, you can end up losing teeth. you might have periodontal disease as well; they will check that.

if it is a crack that goes into the root then yes it can be because the tooth can be infected definatly get you tooth checked out you might need a root canal. Also be careful of gingivitus. It makes your gums a red color and there are special tooth pastes. Make sure your tooth brush isn't too hard either

The problem would be, that you haven't gone to the Dentist ! The swelling and pain and redness are all signs of infection that won't get better "watching " it get worse, and involving other teeth and gum tissue. The piece broke off the tooth because of decay ! Please get yourself to the Dentist ASAP!. Take care SW FNP

You have some sort of periodontial disease. You have to go to a dentist to start a treatment plan. Bleeding gums are a sign of poor dental health. Drinking too much soda, not flossing, etc. Get to a dentist if you want to save your teeth.

You may have eaten something that was really rough, and cut your gums, or you could have something under the gumline, or a number of other things, like plaque buildup.

Stop by a dentist and get a cleaning at least, it'll help stop the bleeding.

Sounds like you have gum disease. You need to see a dentist as soon as possible. He can see that you get the broken teeth repaired. You'll be so happy.

I would suspect an infection or periodontal disease in the gums themselves. I suggest going to a dentist to get antibiotics and/or a mouthwash just for the periodontal disease that they make.

You most likely have an infection in them. Go to the dentist ASAP and you may need an antibiotic that he can prescribe.
