try to get rid of as much cat hair and dandruff that you can and buy a air purifier it will remove dust and particles from the air and it would also be good to get some allergy medication for your sister

Do NOT bathe your cat! the allergens will get worse. I have a cat and my fiance is allergic, severely allergic. I talked to our vet about it and asked about grooming the cat and she told me that the what people are allergic to is the cats saliva and if you bathe the cat she will clean herself more making the allergies worse. Brush your cat a couple of times a week, and ask your vet about something called acepromozine (not sure if that is the correct spelling or not). My vet made it in her office, (it's really inexpensive too around $13) and you just add a couple of drops of it to her food or water everyday. We just recently started this so I don't know how well it works yet but she said they've had great results with others. Then go get your sister some Clairiton too. Good Luck!

All you have to do is give you Kitten or Cat a bath. I have six cats all persians & I am highly allergic to cats except when they get a bath. We give our cats a bath every couple of weeks. They all enjoy the warm water!!! Just make sure the water is warm. Have a nice big towel ready to wrap them in and hold the cat in the towel for 5 min. and you will see that they just start to fall asleep. This is a good time to trim their toe nails. Be very careful not to trim to much. Just use a toe nail clipper and knock off the sharp point. Your cat will love being that clean!!!! We live in Hawaii and just let the cats air dry. Make sure it is a warm day or warm inside. DO not get any water in their ears. This could cause an ear infection. Just rinse around there face. Using baby shampoo is good as it will not irratate their eyes!!! Aloha & Good Luck

I am living proof that you can get over an allergy. I used to be very allergic to cats, i would get itch welts and my eyes would swell shut! I slowly was around cats more and more and never touched my face or eyes and after a month or two i got my own cat and i am totally "cured"! My 2 cats share my pillow everynight now! It can go away through exposure. Good luck!

I say you put the cat in her room and let her deal with it. lol. Just buy your sister some medication for her allergies and groom the cat regularly. It would also make a difference on if it is an outside cat or an indoor one. It'll be better to have an outside cat.

If you keep grooming the cat daily or every other day to keep all the sheding fur to a minimum should help. Also monthly to twice a month baths should also help, you should start out monthly and then increase gradually so your cats skin has time to reajust to all the treatment it is getting so their won't be any irritation.

The more your sister is around the cat, the less her allergies will be.
