my brother is 13 years old and his going to fight a 19 year old.

my brother is thin but active for his age and knows ju jitsu and karate.

the 19-y-o works out and is known as a roughneck.

what do you think my brothers chances are against him? how could he win?

how hurt could he end up getting by going against a strong 19 yr old who is known to "beat the pulp out of other guys"?

NOT a good situation, but it will be a valuable lesson learned for both.

Your brother, in all likelihood, is going to take a pretty good beating. He'll learn that it's not smart to fight when you're severely mis-matched.

The 19 year-old is going to jail. He'll learn that it doesn't pay to fight a minor.

Umm why fight? That doesn't solve a thing. Your brother will probably get it handed to him. But if the guy hits him first he can be put in jail. If your brother hits him 3 times then he is allowed to do whatever he wants to him. So he better be able to knock him out with 3 hits or run very fast.

Ouch your brother is in for some serious pain.

I've train jiu jitsu with younger guys, even some who are 14 or 15 and I manage to out strenght them quite easily. So I often have to cut my strenghtness in half so they can learn how to apply technique and I'm 22 years old and usually the smallest guy in my gym.

You should advise your brother to not fight. A fight is a willing physical clash of two or more egos. If he is wise he will choose to not fight. Violence begets violence.

Also, just because your brother trains in martial arts doesn't mean he is infallible in the street. It only increases his chances of survival slightly, their are no guarantees in the street.
If things go very badly he could end up dead. Or if he beats the snot out of the guy, the 19 yr old could get very angry and come back with more guys, a knife or a gun.

Plain in simply, this is criminal. A 18 year old + cannot choose to fight a minor. That is all kinds of trouble. I believe the police have something to say about that. What is a 19 year old doing messing with a 13 year old?
As far as fights, permanent damage can happen, hopefully does not though.

You of course left out the most important info... SIZE!! Height, weight, and musculature of each.

The best solution is not to fight. You have to be a major idiot to actually SET UP a fight and walk right into it.

Plus, it's illegal for the 19 yr old to do this. If he gives your bro crap about it, tell him you'll call the police.

I would say that, AT BEST, your brother's chances are:

SLIM TO REMOTE!

Hope your family carries a good health insurance policy!

re: "How hurt could he end up getting"... broken limbs, broken nose, broken ribs, fractured skull, broken back, broken neck (the last two would probably involve some paralysis for the rest of his life.)

Jiu Jitsu is nice but against a much older larger opponent he would need a high belt in Jiu Jitsu and some striking experience to defeat this much older stronger opponent. My suggestion is DONT FIGHT!!!!! 13 vs 19 is a disaster waiting to happen. Jail time for both is all i foresee.

The 19 year old can be arrested for child abuse if this fight ever takes place. This would be much more serious than an assault charge - he would do serious jail time. Call the police now!

A ninteen year old should know better, and stay out of this situation, cause if he even touches your brother he is going to jail.
