and then are re-united at the resurrection?
What if I don't want my spirit back? It's always been a little grumpy and stand-offish. Maybe I'll like it better without it....

Courtney - That's nice.
At each family gathering they could say "somebody go grab mom's soul from the mantle....she loves it when Uncle Joey tells jokes".

That is a fairy tale, U can't find nor read that in the bible. the body/soul is one in the same. the soul that sinneth it shall die, and it also says that he breathed into your nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul.the soul is flesh and blood and flesh & blood is the soul. A spirit being cannot die neither is it in the body. example ( angels and God are spirit beings not man)

Isn't the concept of a body functioning without a spirit kind of like our zombie lore? Creepy man.

Samurai, for a "Top Contributor", you are a tad sad.
Before you reject this 'spirit' thing, find out first exactly what is being referred to.
Do not assume you know.
If you did know exactly what is meant by the word 'spirit', in this sense, you would not have made the comment you did.

You won't be getting your spirit back. You will be getting your body back. Your will be living in your spirit until that time, hopefully in the presence of God.
