I didn't think so...
Do you know half of everything?
I didn't think so either..

Let's pretend you know half of everything...
Is it possible that the God (of the bible) you do not believe in could exist in the other half you don't know?

Isn't it also equally possible that the god (of the bible) that you DO believe in may not exist since you apparently do not know everything.... or half of everything..... or even a quarter of everything!

Such a hypocritical question to ask. You are basically saying everyone should believe the bible because nobody knows everything..... That doesn't make any sense at all.

If you are going to believe in the bible or any religion i think you should base it on what you DO know, not what you do not know.

Let's say that you are the person who discovered the first volcano. You're standing on the edge & trying to decide whether you should climb into it or not. Are you going to base your judgement on what you do know about the volcano? or what you don't know about it? You do know that there is a red glowing liquid below that is radiating with an extreme heat. What you don't know.... you don't know if this thing is a portal to eden or a doorway to hell but you formulate a belief that it is a doorway to heaven(as unlikely as it sounds... but for the sake of example we'll go with it)...... Are you going to jump into the volcano knowing that the intense heat may indicate danger? or are you going to jump in not knowing , but BELIEVING you know it is a doorway to heaven?!

No. It is possible for some other sort of superior being to exist. In all the cosmos highly likely. But it is not possible that the ridiculous anthropomorphic, temper-tantrum throwing, hell-stoking patriarch with the worst human characteristics presented in the Bible can exist. My cat isn't that stupid and irrational.

Isn't it possible, since you haven't a single shred of evidence for the god of the bible, that he is just as make believe as Zeus and Indra and Thoth and Odin and Damballah and Cernunnos and all the other gods I am sure you readily accept are made up by superstitious fools?

Knowledge and existence are two different things. There are some people that claim to believe in God and kill their fellow men, steal from the ones in necessity... where is the God in their other half? Isn't it contradicting? So the believers have the Devil in their other half? Maybe that's why there are so many wars because of religion and power around the world? Human Race is decadent.

Anything is possible. I could also be a computer savvy dragon.

Icarus62's argument is illogical in that it uses an oxymoron as an example to prove the impossibility of God's existence. It's like saying "a giant dwarf is impossible, and therefor so is the existence of Gilbert Godfrey". If you're going to use logic, you may as well go all the way.

Take the atheistic origins of the universe for example: How could human ability to use logic possibly arise from a singularity? Does the improbability of human logic mean it negates it's own existence?

We know a lot less than half. Possible - yes. Likely - no. Some of what we do know conflicts with the Bible and that is problematic. Also having no evidence makes the whole thing a wild guess and that has a low probability of being right since there are infinite possibilities.

I dont know everything, but the half I know I can tell you there is a God. The other half I dont know could not say there is NO God, because that would contradict the half I know for sure... right??

So I think the answer is "no".

Peace!

Even though I am a believer, I want to answer your question from my prospective. No, even believers don't know everything. I'm sure that each and every one of us has had moments of doubt and confusion. I know I certainly have. But, I have always come back to my God and my faith in our future together. Perhaps you are right about non believers simply not understanding but I think it is more likely that they are looking in the wrong place for their information. They need to look into their hearts, not into their minds.

Everything is Infinite. Every point in an infinite entity is the centre of that entity. Thus what I know is the centre of everything. God is at the centre, the periphery and in the entire infiniteness of everything. So I know a little of Him. The best part here is that when we know even a little of Him it is enough to liberate us.

I know probably less than 1% of 1%.

But within that 1% of 1% (if that much), there is enough knowledge to prove that there is no deity, including Yahweh.

A necessary consequence of the existence of a deity is missing in this universe.

How about there's no "let's pretend". You can keep pretending and I'll just stick with what I do know, that way we both get something out of this.
