Don't most animals have distinct personalities? Is it not our souls that make us who we are? Where do animal souls go to when the body dies?

I'm rather surprised to see that many of your answerers say that an animal has no soul. This is religious claptrap. The soul of a being is the Life Force which animates it, just the same as the Human Life Force. Individual souls have, through their previous experience developed 'character', which shows as the animal (and I include humans here) develops to the adulthood of the particular body. When the body is no longer able to support it, the souls leaves it, and the body 'dies'. The souls goes on to its next level.

Personally i believe that both humans and animals or any other living creature have a soul. To me the soul is the life force.
What would be the difference between a human soul and any other soul that i dont know but it seems like a very interesting question.
Do animals have distinct personalities? My answer would be yes. Among a group of animals they do attend to act in a unique way.
Is out souls that makes us who we are? well i have to look into our design and try to figuire that one out :).

as for your final question. Animals soul when they die? I really dont know but if i remb correctly some believes that they return back to GAIA '' earth'' as a part of gaining her life stream energy back and I dont know if they are correct or not.

The Bible answers that question at Ecclesiastes 3:19-20 which tells us--
"For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity. All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust."

We are also told that humans and animals are souls and that souls die.
"The soul who sins shall die--" Ezekiel 18:20
"--and every living soul died in the sea." Revelation 16:3
"But if the priest buy any soul (animal) with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat."--Leviticus 22:11

Only humans have the hope of the resurrection, which Jesus will soon bring about. All those past and present who have fallen asleep in death, (both the just and unjust), will be brought back to life and have the opportunity to live forever.

Everything Has a Soul

In truth, not just the human being, but also every created entity possesses a "soul." Animals have souls, as do plants and even inanimate objects; every blade of grass has a soul, and every grain of sand. Not only life, but also existence requires a soul to sustain it--a "spark of G-dliness" that perpetually imbues its object with being and significance. A soul is not just the engine of life; it also embodies the why of a thing's existence, it's meaning and purpose. It is a thing's "inner identity, it's raison d'être. Just like the 'soul' of a musical composition is the composer's vision that energizes and gives life to the notes played in a musical composition--the actual notes are like the body expressing the vision and feeling of the soul within them. Each soul is the expression of G-d's intent and vision in creating that particular being."

Nefesh is the soul as the engine of physical life. Ruach is the emotional self and "personality."

I believe animals have a soul, yes.. I am a Wiccan and I do not speak for all Wiccan's now.. I believe that when I die again, I will go back to the Summerland/s to my private space.. Within my house are all the possessions I have ever owned, (all lives), everything I have ever lost, all my animals, from both this life and all the animals I have ever cared for in all my lives..They await me in the Summerland..This I am certain, they have a soul like us all, it is just not as mature as our's is yet..Certain animals need us to guide them, and others don't.. They are very wise, and wise of us too... Blessed Be .. )O(

Animals have souls and each one is different, just like ours. What they lack is the inborn capacity for meanness that we humans have. They are the real teachers of unconditional love for us. Where would we be without animals?

I am sure that after their time in this world, they will go to the same place as I will. And anyway, I would not want to go any place - be it even heaven - if my dogs will not there. Or all other animals, for that matter.

I do not think it speaks anywhere in the Bible regarding the fate of the animal kingdom. Although they definately have their own personalities, I think the primary difference is that animals do not seem to have the ability to have a conscious relationship with God. They do not have the ability to decern right from wrong through concience although they of course can be taught certain behaviors.

As a person who loves animals, I have had the pleasure of enjoying long term relationships with both dogs and cats and I for one certainly hope that our creator has a special place for them when they die. They have given his favored children (us) a great deal of joy and are truly deserving of some special treatment. The loving God I know would do no less.

An animals soul is not as developed as ours (not even sure I would call it a soul) But like everything else it returns to the source when it's physical life ends.

Animals don't have souls. God didn't make them in His image. He created man in His image. Man have souls. Animals are just alive. The Book of Genesis talks about God breathing life into Adam. God breathed His Spirit into Adam. God created animals. Period. No soul.
