Hello. Why are there so many different religions? Read this, Romans 1:18-25 18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
If you have read this Religion is Man Made where you worship fake God's idols and man went out on there own ways to worship God or to make a object able to see and worship. Remember this Christianity is not a religion, it's about having a relation with God through Jesus Christ. When people say that all religions lead to the same place, they do in hell. If you read the Bible, Christ never came here on earth to creat a religion or a cult and came here to restore that relationship we had with God at the begining.

Religions are how people explain the world around them, make sense of it, keep culture alive and flurishing and gives them guidance to live safely. This is seen strongly in religions with mulitple gods, when you have a god for a specific purpose (god of war, god of love, god of fertility ect) however in monotheistic relgions (one god) you really have to dig into the history.
Most religions have survived for many years with out being in written form (writting didn't come along until around 4100-3800 BCE). The religions strength existed primarily through storytelling which would then be passed down from generation to generation, therefore adapting the story as times changed.
Religion also tends to serve as the political structure of a group of people, although this not always intended by the first followers or "founder." Most religions have a set of rules on how to live that were either created by the "founders" or later on by a political figure to help govern the people under the eyes of their "god(s)." For example, Judaic and Christian religions (yes Christianity is indeed a religion) Moses brought down from the Mount the 10 commandments. Jews also have the Torah which gives them specific customs and rules, like forbidding them to eat unclean animals. Many years ago (and even sometimes today), pigs were considered unclean because their meat had parasites that could be passed onto humans when consumed. Another example is that in Islam, Mohammad never intended his followers to be so strongly under the political arm of the Law of Islam. His main focus was the 5 pillars, since if they are followed they will bring the individual and those surrounding the individual absolute peace and happiness. It was only long after his death when the three empires (Ottoman, Mughal and Safavid) saw that Mohammad left no political structure for them to follow that they created rules and regulations leading to what we know today as the Sharia or the body of Islamic Law.
SO do we still need religion today? Some scholars would argue that we don't but what religion does bring to modern day man is a moral law and a sense of community (everyone wants to feel like they belong and are cared about). Sure common sense says don't cheat and lie and to be a good citizen, but there is no punishment, necessarily, for disobeying many moral codes. In religion, there is a punishment so to speak, which could be anywhere from excommunication from that beloved community to eternal damnation.
Hope this helps!

Religions tend to be associated with tribal groups living in a geographical region and speaking a particular language. Because these groups could not communicate welll over long distances the religions tended to develop in their own directions independantly.
Only with the rise of large empires and long distance trade by sea did various religions become known to each other. It also became possible for one religion to emerge as dominant in a large region like Christianity did during the Roman Empire.

Because there are so many different cultures, histories and societies. God speaks to everyone in their own language so that they will have a better chance of understanding. Even so not many seem to get it.

To prevent people from learning the truth. For example, in the military, there are Psychological Operations units that spread disinformation to the enemy.
This is to confuse the enemy, and deny them what our true intentions are.
Satan does this as well. He gives the enemy (us) false, yet credible, information about God (or goddesses/nature/spirit world) so that people are drawn away from the one True and Living God.
He hates that we alone are created in God's image, and uses our pride and weaknesses to worship anything else other than God. This results in other religions, cults, and "isms."
I hope that helps!

Because there are so many different people. Religion is our interaction with G-d. Different people will have different interactions.

Due to cultural differences. Different people have different interpretations on how life should be lived and on how life came to be how it is.

Its purely area of the tip time difficulty. have confidence in God and the rest won't hardship you. to flow to heaven, love God with all your heart, recommendations, and soul. And love your neighbor as your self. this might for sure make you persist with the ten commandments interior the guts and proposals.
