Ok this is the situation: There is a really beautiful girl who works in the same building as me and I always see her smoking outside the building. I just got the idea right now to smoke again (I haven't smoked cigarretes in ages) so that I would be able to break the ice and be able to talk to her. I don't want to just come at her and ask her out of the blue because she really doesn't know me. So, smoking (asking her for a light or something) will be an excuse to get to know her better than saying hi in her face and letting my intentions known upfront. Am I right or am I pathetic?

Pathetic, you are not, as you are just looking for a way to break the ice with her. Smoking you do not have to do. I am a smoker and you were a smoker. You don't have to resort back to a bad habit to try to meet someone. Find another way. Try having to go back to that area, around the time she will be coming in off her break and saying hi a couple of times. Try running into her at the bathrooms, break area, when leaving work. In the work place there is a million things to do. When the weather is nice, take your cell phone and go outside by this area, where you may have to pass her, and make a phone call outside. Mind you don't let her hear the conversation, she may not like what you say, and I tend to feel that when people are trying to impress others with a phone call they sound like an arrogant a** on the phone. Again you will have to pass her when you are walking back into work. I would ultimately try other alternatives first.

You are neither right nor pathetic. You want to introduce yourself in a casual way, which is understandable. DON'T do it by taking up smoking again!!! Why don't you just go out to the "smokers" section and strike up a conversation with her. Tell her that you just needed some fresh air (ha-ha) and just start talking to her. Bring a bottle of water or something and just take a break. You don't have to smoke to hang out there. Good Luck!

You are just being silly. It is such a bad idea to start smoking when u were able to quit in the past. It takes courage and a effort to quit smoking after achieving what lot of smokers struggle with.. You are willing to start smoking all over again for just a girl.. no matter how pretty she is u shouldn't. Be brave and walk about to her and speak to her find a more realistic approach.

You are not a good manueovrer. You can simply start a conversation with her with an overwhelming line like: You are the kind of woman I would risk my life for. She asks: Why is that? You answer: I thought seriously about getting back to smoking just to start a conversation with you, I wonder what more I would do to get to know you better. She will be flattered. Good luck.

Pathetic for sure. Good grief, you don't ruin your health to meet someone. Instead, just walk up to her and start a conversation. Ask her where she works and for how long. Tell her that you work there too and maybe you could go out for a cup of coffee or a drink after work. Use your head.

Oh God, please don't do it! Smoking is a horrible, horrible thing! You are one of the few who has managed to quit and stay that way for a long time. You obviously don't know how big a victory that is!
It's terrible to start smoking again once you've quit, not just for a girl, but for *any* reason!
Just talk to her!

No stand strong, my brother quit smoking but missed his smoker friends at work, he carried cinnamon flavored toothpicks in a plastic dispenser. He carried them in his pocket & went to break outside with his friends & sucked on cinnamon toothpicks. Would also be a conversation starter.

I wouldnt take up smoking for any girl no matter how beautiful she is, its a filthy habit, think of your lungs, long term effects lets see, lung cancer, asthma, which i have because i used to smoke, not the lung cancer but i do have asthma,

i know tis is gonna sound very rude but you would be pathetic.you havent smoked in ages.....dont let a gurl come between you and what u worked hard to get ried of............look maybe you should just start a conversation......be nice and sweet trust me dont start smoking again becasue if she doesnt like you u wil be addicted once again

You don;t have to smoke to get her attention. Ask her for a light to remove a string off your shirt/ pants or something like that.
