It could be a faulty radiator or a knock sensor that has stopped the fan speed. I remember in 2000 there was a recall on some century's and the problem still persisted for about 6 months. If I were you I would take it to a GM dealer and pay 70.00 dollars to have them check your engine out and if you let them fix the problen the $70 is applied towards that total.

Sounds like your lifter's are going bad. When the oil pressure builds up the hydrolic lifters get full and the noise disappears. Have the same problem with my truck. But I do have 112,649 miles on it. Could also be your oil pump not getting oil to the lifters fast enough. Mine sounds like I have a diesel till it warms up a bit then runs fine.

effortless, Its the hydraulic tappets! no longer something to fret approximately extremely, the tappet is barely there to cut back sound and be a cushion for whilst it operates the valve. interior the tappet there's a spring, whilst the tappet gets chilly or a loss of oil its basically turns into extra sturdy, so as a replace of being a cushion against the valve, it is going to faucet against it ( for this reason the call tappet!!) as quickly as the automobile warms up, the warmth softens the spring and oil is pumping around it inflicting it to function commonplace lower back! the only ingredient to do in case you like the noise to offer up is to resume the tappet inflicting the noise, around £10 a tappet, there is one tappet to each valve! desire this enables Andy

When was the last time you checked your engine oil level?
Sounds like bad things have happened. Rod bearing? Crank bearing?
