Regular due date is 4/17/07 this year.
You can file an extension by this date and extend your due date to 10/15/07.
However, the extension does not extend the due date for paying any taxes that you may owe. As such, if you will owe taxes, you must send a payment with your extension for this amount, or else you will incurr penalties at 10/15/07.

Traditionally April 15, given it's a week day.

This year April 15 falls on a Sunday and April 16th is some sort of special D.C. holiday (called Emancipation Day) so you are given until April 17th to file your federal income tax for THIS year.
