Brown up the burger, drain and add a variety of seasonings from your pantry such as chili powder, garlic, etc....and then add in any salsa or taco sauce you have.

Yes you can use salsa, but it doesn't really do it justice.
Try all these ingredients together, chili powder, red pepper flakes (crushed), pepper, any hot sauce you might have will work too, oh and garlic. If you have cumin, that would be the best as opposed to hot sauce or salsa, it is slightly spicy/sweet and gives that mexican aroma and flavor. You'll need a little water too. On a seasoning packet it calls for 1 cup of water, however, you should use no more that 3/4 cup. Don't be afraid to experiment, adding small amounts at a time of the above spices and taste testing to see if you need more. My advice on the hot sauce is a teaspoon should be plenty if not too much!
I run into this same problem all the time, I want to fix something and forget a main ingredient. But it never seems that it can't be fixed and/or made better than the original.
Good Luck

You can drain fat from meat add 1/2 cup pf water for each pound of meat and 1/2 cup tomatoe sauce or pace or a combo of both and a dash of chile powder, garlic salt, pepper, and red pepper and you got some great and tasty taco meat, if you like it hot add a little more red pepper and a jalepeno chopped up-take most of seeds out if you like it milder!

Yeah I never even use the taco seasoning. I just brown up the meat add my own seasoning and then add a little bit of spaghetti sauce (so the meats not so dry). My likes it this way.
