You mean El pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Angeles de Porciúncula?
"In 1777, the new governor of California, Felipe de Neve, recommended to the viceroy of New Spain that the site be developed into a pueblo (town). The area was duly named "El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles del Río de Porciúncula," ("The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels on the River Porciúncula"). "

How much time ya got????----LOL
The origin of the name California is an unresolvable dispute.
The origin of the name Los Angeles is as stated by the first poster above..it was however in the mid 1800's nick named "The City of Devils" in the days of the "WILD WEST" during which there was much murder and mayhem in the area, most of it never officially resolved....but this is an interesting question...

It was first a mission on the Camino Real. . .mission of the angels. A band of Chumash Indians was living along the banks of the Los Angeles river and they were the subjects of the conversion
