Been working out for a while and not too much in the way of results. Just changed up the routine a little but wondering how many calories per work out need to be burned to actually be beneficial and really make it work!!

The key is this following fact: one pound of body weight is equal to roughly 3500 calories. So if you, for example, need to eat 2000 calories a day to maintain your current body weight, but you burn 500 per day, then over the course of 7 days ( 7 x 500 = 3500) you will lose one pound every 7 days. Burning 500 per day is hard to do unless you run at full speed for about an hour so you can maybe try to burn 250 and reduce your diet by about 250 as well. Something along those lines - you'll have to adjust the numbers for your own situation but now you know how it works. In the long run, having a good metabolism (body's ability to burn calories) will help you burn more calories even when you're not working out.

It depends on how many calories you ingest in the day to guage a question like that. If you burn 500 calories a day 7 days a week, you will burn 1lb of fat in 1 week. That is assuming you are burning 500 more calories than you take in.

theres not really an exact way of telling how many calories you burn...go for 20 to 30 minutes of straight cardio...find your target heart range (google for it) and then do 20-30 minutes straight of running or jogging with your heart pumping that many times a minute. cardio will continue to burn calories even hours after you stop working out... you should do this at LEAST 3 times a week
