I am running a CD-run copy of Knoppix Linux as my Windows stopped working but I notice that every once in awhile if I accidently hit the wheel button on my mouse it loads what ever url I have in memory. Is this normal?

Linux often has difficulty detecting different mice. What I think is happening is the wheel is being detected as one of the thumb buttons, so it is behaving as a Back button in your web browser. (The system detects the wheel as mouse buttons. Wheel click is MB2, wheel up is MB4, and wheel down is MB5. Your thumb buttons would be MB6 & MB7.)

You will need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and change the z-axis mapping. Unfortunately, since you are running a Live CD there may not be a way to save your changed configuration. Some Live CD's do allow you to save changes to a usb device. I don't have any experience with Koppix, so I don't know if that feature is supported.

Dang, that a lot of buttons. Too complicated for me. LOL!
But, I would say, if that what it do then it must be normal.
