I am only 26 years old and have two children. I have always been in pretty good shape, but I decided that I wanted to start running and try to be in a 10K. Problem is, my knees have started hurting especially when I go running. They didn't bother me the first month or so, but now I can't even run any more than 1/2 to 1 mile before it starts hurting right in my knee cap. :-( Any advice? Am I doing something wrong?

Knee Pains is something that over 50 million americans experience and they think the only way to handle it is toughing it out, or putting ice and hot packs on it with a dose of pain killer. However you can strengthen and loosen up the pain in your knee.
Increasing your intake of Glucosamin Chondriton, decreasing your sugar intake, and following certain exercises and stretches at least 3-4 times a week.
Check out the link below, for a detail on these exercises and what knee pain is all about:

You should bicycle too. That will hel build the muscles around your knees to protect them from injury when you run. Maybe you should get some new running shoes and try to run on a track or grass. Pavement is rough on them. As for the knee pain, if it is bad maybee you should get it checked out by a doctor if you have a serious injury or something. Possibly just tendonitis or bursitis though.

When we walk we exert 4lbs. of pressure for every pound we weigh. When we run, it's more. Start walking. Running will ruin your joints and you get the same benefits from a good walk and less stress. Godloveya.
