I don't want to install both msn and yahoo. I don't use their features maybe except file-sharing. Is there a messenger program out there for windows platform( Like gaim which is linux platform )

Both MSN and Yahooo allow you to chat with either of its contacts so you need only have one or the other. I personally like yahoo messenger, I find it more user friendly. If you prefer msn then just get MSN Live and you can add your yahoo contacts. It's up to you.

i will list out some IM's and their important features. Pick the one that suits you...
1. Gaim: Excellent IM for Text messaging among various messanger as (YM, MSN, Gtalk, Aim, Xfire, ICQ etc). IT DOES NOT SUPPORT VOICE AND CAM MODE.
2. Trillian: Most people perfer it. The pro version has lot to offer but a super chatter would only pay 25 for an IM client.
3. IM2: Another excellent IM client.
4. MSN (windows live messenger): I would recommend this one for you. From latest version, you can actually add YM's friends as well. I love MSN. The latest version offers lot. Btw, you can invite MSN friends from YM as well.
P.S. if you are using vista...dont forget to check YM for vista....it is arriving soon.
