Hello! I have two cats and about 4 months back, they had a major shedding problem. There used to be hair everywhere! We suspected that it wasn't normal for cats to be shedding so much when they are still like a year old so we took them to the vet. As suspected, they had lice which they got from our neighbour's cat. We did a 3 month treatment and my cats haven't shed a lot ever since. We have changed their shampoo too and I also brush them once every other day. I suggest you check whether they have a lice problem too, change your shampoo and brush them as frequently as possible. Hope this helps :D

I understand real well. I have 9 cats, 5 dogs. I replaced all carpet with tile. Much easier to clean and i learned to live with hair too. You may consider sphynx kittens( hairless) I'll have some for sale in about a year. swiffer works good for hair.

I have a Dyson animal vacuum. It is great and it suctions up all the pet hair in the house.

Another great thing to use, is a sticky/roller lint remover. They come with a roll of sticky tape like material. You roll it over your furniture, etc. and it will pick up lint, dirt and hair. When it is full, you just tear off the sheet and use the next one! They are great!! You can find them at any Wal-Mart, K-Mart or similar store.

I use lint rollers, and duct tape, but if you can afford it, I've seen that these things called sticky sheets actually work, you can clean a whole upholstered chair at a time with one of this things. They also make special toys you can buy at your local petstore meant just to help them groom themselves and the hair stays on the mat
