Because we were young once too and most of us have made up a false illness to get some time off school.
And if we don't see any symptoms such as high temperatures, coughs or spots on the skin we tend to believe there's nothing wrong ?.

Wel l,as a parent, yo ukind of know when you child is sick or not. If there up walking around or on the phone.
Or doing something a sick person wouldn't do. Then its a dead give away.
Or if they take your temp, and it normal.
And if its a girl, they might think you just playing ,so you can have your friends over. or your bf while they are gone
.They know children can be sneaky. because ,they most likely, have done it themself.

I don't necessarily think they jump to that, most of the time, I think it's more that they want you to be able to face your day even though you're feeling "ill", because when you "grow up," you don't get that chance too much to say you don't feel well and you're not going to work all because of that. Half the time, if you feel "ill" it's just because of your mental state - you're feeling upset/down and your body follows that.

well it depends if you are telling the truth or not...i can see through my kids and i KNOW when they are lying....most of the time they make excuses up that they are ill just so they can get out of doing something for me, but i do give them the benefit of the doubt....sometimes they are ill....but i can tell when they are lying...kids think us parents are stupid...but hey....were not...we are always one step ahead....they will know that when they have their own kids

most parents can tell when their child is pretending or not. im a mother to 4 kids and with gr8 experience. if they generally r ill i can automatically see it in them, their eyes look diffrent, or like now my son has got spots all over him. my thinking is german measles, but when they play up i know and their sent str8 to school. they cant fool me.

Probably because you haven't given them a reason to trust you that you're not lying to them.

Rachie, Probably because they did when they were your age. Take your temp - if it's not over 98.6 keep going! If you still feel ill alot - go see a doctor.
