Can you have a screen with french doors,like you can a sliding glass patio door?

Sure you can. It may be a sliding set up like the existing door, or part of the french doors. Measure the existing patio doors and go shopping. Go to more places than just Home Depot or Lowes. Check your yellow pages for other lumber yards and building suppliers. Eventually you'll find what fits your needs and budget. If you stick to same size doors, the installation will be fairly simple. Changing the size won't.

We were going to do this same thing -- but also wanted to have screens so that we could have the doors open on nice days. We then saw some great sliding glass doors with the look of French doors -- in that they had "panes" of glass instead of being one large plate of glass. It is a charming look, but gives us the option of still sliding the door open and having a screen.

yes, the screens slide like your existing one, but it may be an extra.not necessarily included with the doors.
