Hello. I was wondering, does anyone have a family where they don`t talk to you or they`re not close with one another? My family never calls or writes to me. My mom only emails me when I email her first. Why are families so cruel sometimes? I`m sick of being isolate and alone.

My dad is remarried and he wants nothing to do with me.I have a husband and two boys, whom I love dearly. But shouldn`t they know grandpa?

The saying goes "You choose your friends but you don't choose your family". If I were you I'd build up an network of close friends, then you know they'll like you for who you are, not because you are a blood relative.
Maybe your family aren't being "cruel" but you all don't have a strong enough bond, or enough in common, to be in each others lives all the time.
One good thing - at least they are not constantly interfering when you don't want them to!

In my family, I'm very much the outcast. Although I call and talk to my mom fairly frequently, I'm not close to any of my siblings. We live entirely different lifestyles, and to be honest, I don't LIKE them very much as people, although I still love them as family. It's hard to deal with, but I've been lucky enought to be surrounded by close friends that I can count on for everything a family would normally provide. Also, I got closer to my mom when I finally told her that I felt like an outsider among everyone. She understood more than I expected she would. Perhaps your mom doesn't know that you'd like to hear from her more? You have nothing to lose from telling her how you feel, and everything to gain. I hope things start looking up for you.

YES! My family and my husband's family are the same way. So It's just us. They are not a part of our lives. I realized that I had not done one single thing to be treated so rudely. Realize that you are great without them and family is not as important as the world makes us believe. You'll be fine without them .
My test: Don't call, Don't write-nothing and see how long it takes for them to care to check on you. It proves how much they care without having to start a fight.

Cheer up. You call them if they don't. They may also be thinking the same things like you are.
