Of course you can see and experience the night life by yourself. The problem is participating in the consumption of adult beverages.

Getting wasted when traveling alone is very risky. If you do choose to do so, take all of the precautions possible.

1. Stay at a reputable hotel.
2. Lock your valuables (passport, camera, tickets, credit cards, ATM cards, excess cash, traveler's checks) in the hotel safe.
3. Take only the following with you; cash you will need for the evening, medical ID card, hotel business card, photocoy of passport.

The amount of cash required will vary per your destination. Japan, Iceland & UK may require ~$200. For Cambodia & Indonesia, $40 in small bills is more than enough.

It is possible and recommended to have a good time out without drinking or drinking something very light. I like Spy with lots of ice. For women traveling alone, be especially cautious what you drink. Have a great trip.

HI,

Travelling in South East Asia and East Asia is great. Every country has it's ups and downs and there are bad peple in every country. I've been out here in this region for 30 years and have not had a problem getting home at 4am in the morning. Just take the same precautions you would at home.
The Club scene here in Taiwan is nice :

When I was travelling in Asian Cities, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, I had to stay late until closing for a night of fun and entertainment. It is quite cheap as compared to a night out in North America. In all of those cities mentioned, I was robbed at knife point in Kuala Lumpur. I reported the incident to the local police, and they did nothing.

Having said that, I think you can by all means enjoy a night out in Asia. Just be very careful especially in Kuala Lumpur.

Just stay near downtown, and make sure you don't get drunk if you drink. Even late at night, you can go back to your hotel after spending nightlife.
