If you swtich to whole grains and include a good amount of them in your daily diet, then yes. The fiber in these food items will cling to cholestrol and flush it out of your system.
This addition of high fiber, whole grain foods, must be accompanied with a reduction of saturated fats as well as non cholestrol trans fats like hydrogenated ols found in packaged foods.
Eat a lot of fruits (they're high in fiber) veggies (hi in fiber too) and eat no animal fats (ground beef or bacon, butter etc) and increase your exercise, even if it's just a 5 minute jog in place everyday before you shower. You will see huge results.
ps buy wheat germ and sprinkle on all your foods. It will increase your fiber intake and lowers your blood fats (triglycerides) by a good margin.
Good luck. It's easier than you think.

If you are searching for better blood chemistry in general, read some things written by Andrew Weil, MD... The Anti-Inflammatory diet, and Healthy Aging. He's no kook, and no nut case. Solid research goes into his books, and he uses sound logic. He's a Harvard Med school grad, so he as well is no dummy, and not duped by silliness...
