get a massage from a new massage therapist, and I told her exactly what I wanted and she kept messing up and was rather rude.

So, I did pay her the cost of the massage when I left the massage room, however, where I would normally leave the tip on the bed, I took some ketch-up (I had a couple packets in my purse) and smeared it on the sheets of the massage table in the appropriate place.

My question is: Was it more rude to do that, or to leave 2 cents to show her what I thought of her "massage"?

Thank you!

You should have just tossed a couple pennies in the ketchup. Telling her that her attitude was bad probably wouldn't do much because she most likely was rude intentionally. Why not leave them something to think about, if you just left she would think it's okay to treat everyone like that. I thought it was really funny, so think i'm immature if you want people.

What you did was childish, immature, thoughtless and rude.

In the future, you should grow a backbone and speak to the owner or manager of the establishment. If your MT was really so terrible, she will get disciplined worse from her boss than anything you could've done.

Instead, what you did was make a mess for the person who cleaned the rooms (which is not necessarily your MT, especially if its a ritzier place). You did not get your point across. How is she going to know that your were dissatisfied with her services? She is going to just think that you "bleed" ketchup (in case you haven't noticed in all of your 12 years of existence, ketchup has a rather strong smell and anyone with a nose will be able to tell its not blood) and that you are a spoiled, selfish child (which you have proved to be). She will not be truly chastised by your gesture.

Grow up.

I didn't even know you were suppose to tip a massage therapist! I go to a guy who owns his own place, and I never tip him. He is already getting $65 for an hour, what the heck would he need a tip for.

No matter how bad someone else behaves, does not mean you should stoop to their level, in this case you went even lower.
Maybe you could have just told her that you did not enjoy the massage, and that her attitude was not appropriate.
That would have been a much more mature way to handle it.
But I also understand that at the time you were angry.

It was rude, disgusting, and quite inappropriate. Massage therapists charge enough for their services that a tip is not in order. Appropriately, you should have just not left a tip. Keep in mind that someone else has to use the bed after you, and someone has to clean up the ketchup.

I think your choice of "tip" was crude and most likely not understood anyway! So they had to wash the sheets - big deal? They have to do that anyway! And do you think the MT was docked pay or affected in any way other than disgust? I doubt it - even if laundry IS her job, too, what's the big deal in turning someone's stomach? And if someone came in and actually WAS on their period, that person would have been mortified to see the mess they made, not all huffy and "justified" by bleeding onto the table!

You need to grow up a little before your next massage - if you aren't happy with the service you receive, next time try talking to the manager or owner of the facility. Don't sink to playing childish pranks.

As an afterthought - if there were a second person responsible for cleaning up the room for the next client, how do you think he/she felt having to clean up your little mess? Your MT may not have even gone back into that room before the next client came in and therefore may never have even seen your "statement".

You weren't rude, you were passive aggressive. You should have stood and informed her that the massage was unacceptable. If you stood before she was done you could have argued to not have to pay for it. Spite solves nothing for you. Spite suggests you took her actions personally. You should not. She could have been having a bad day. Have you ever screwed up on the job? Do you think your boss should have, say, sprinkled lemonade on your desk to simulate urine rather than correct you or talk to you? Before you start meting out justice, ask yourself, what do you deserve for you failures.

When you get bad service you just don't tip. That's how someone knows they need to do better.

What you did was trashy and immature.

Grow up.

I personally think that you should of left a measelly tip instead of doing that. i also think you should have refused to pay, and demanded to see the proprieter of the business.

either one was rude, what you should have done is told her that you were not satisfied and then taken it to her boss. If she is the boss, then your best bet would be to tell her that you are not satisfied and then not returned to her again in the future.
