I've been with my husband to the Lake District a few time, as it was his childhood holiday place and he knows it like the back of his hand! We went for out honeymoon in October 2004, and it is so beautiful at this time of year! Alot of the carparks in the area are National Trust, so if you are a member, don't forget your cards! We saved a fortune in car park fees with our cards.
One beautiful place I visited on my Honeymoon was Tarn Hows -

Its great for a walk, and if you are adventurous you can get a map and walk from Hawkshead to the Tarn.
While you are in Hawkshead, visit the Relish shop 'Hawkshead Relish', they sell allsorts of yummy things!

Fellfoot Park at the base of windermere is beautiful, lots of gardens next to the lake to walk around, and they sell lovely icecream!

Lakeside, on the west side of Lake Windermere is well worth a visit - you can get a ferry across the lake or ride the steam train through the beautiful scenery:

It is a great idea to have a climb and see the Aira Force waterfall, it is really beautiful but can be quite hard work! Wear some sensible shoes!

We stopped off for a drink at The Drunken Duck inn, which is really famous. This has special meaning for us, as it is the inn that my husbands Grandparents stayed at when they got married 50 years ago!

If you are going in summer, Windermere Lake Cruises often have Evening Wine Cruises - we went on a 2 hour cruise on the lake at sunset one evening - there were only a few other couples there and it was really romantic! You get a glass of wine (or hot chocolate, coffee or something similar if you want) included in the ticket price, and you can buy more drinks.

Ambleside is a very pretty town, I had my first meal out as a married woman there! There are lots of shops and its great for a wander round on a day when you don't fancy a huge long walk:

Near Hawkshead is Grizedale Forrest, which is great for a walk around - its huge! We went in the pouring rain, and sat under the trees with a flask of tomato soup!

If you are driving, it is really fun to go over Kirkstone pass! This is the most scary road I have ever driven in - one time we went down it in the fog and could only see 2 inches in front of the car! Took about 2 hours to get down as we could only go at about 5 miles an hour! Not for the faint hearted!

My husband loves the 80's, and we couldn't go to the Lake District without seeing KITT (the knightrider car!) at Keswicks Cars of The Stars museum!

Thanks for this question, I've got all sentimental remembering all the things I did on my honeymoon! Hope you have a lovely time!

I went to tthe lakes lasst year, went to a lovely little national trust campsite at LAngdale. there you are in a prime spot for many many walks. get this months trail magazine and it has a pullout on the lakes. The campsite is mega cheap and there is alittle pub all the walkers go to afterwards, the old dungeon gill. (not the new one! expensive)
Hope this helps, any more info wanted let me know!

Wast Water was absolutely stunning when I visited it last September. There were no other people there, just me and my boyfriend and a staggering view. We stayed at a campsite near Boot, quite remote and less touristy than the traditional places to visit I think.
Have a lovely time.

Any walk that ends at the Drunken Duck! Preferably by way of Tarn Hows or Langdale Pikes. Also, get off the beaten track and you'll find small, secluded pools for a romantic dip.

after I lived in harrogate we used to bypass in the time of to the lakes by ability of going to ripley and alongside the line it truly is type of parrellel to the skipton rd previous stump bypass caverns, more beneficial useful perspectives and a lot less used by ability of wagons, you may shrink alongside the accurate of malham that's worth a wander round and %. up the line to kirby longsdale. Then its only a short experience to lake windermere and so on.
