I think you'll find this to be so because people are unwilling to change. By showing them a detailed, indepth analysis of something, you're teaching something new, and then they have to think to learn it. However, a simple answer is often composed of small, commonplace ideas that the questioner already knew, arranged in a different order. In this way, the questioner feels like the answer stems from their own thoughts, and this inflation of vanity is most rewarding to the simply mind.

Because first and foremost, human social discourse is political. By 'political' what I mean is that human discourse has as it primary aim and as its background meaning the question of how should we define our reality. Therefore, we are inclined to favor those statements that aim at moving or reinforcing our reality in the political direction that we prefer. Thus, "reasons" become secondary to our primary concern which is essentially a desire to reinforce how we want reality to be.
Everything that we say and argue for in the public arena of discourse already is packed with assumptions and political -- again, used in the larger sense of a struggle to define reality -- biases. Providing more expanded depth and reason to one's argument is only ever exposing what these biases already are, but not fundamentally necessarily including anything that is not implicitly contained within more simple, unexamined declarations.
The more unsophisticated one's mind is -- and we all fall somewhere in this spectrum -- the more it relies on background assumptions. The more unconscious it is of the reasons it has aligned itself with a point of view. But regardless, those reasons are still there, albeit beneath the conscious surface. Thus, for a less sophisticated mind, a less sophisticated statement or answer is preferable at times, as it makes the same assumptions that the questioner already embraces, and thus there is no need to flush them out through expanded, excessive, reasoning.
So, whether the answer be trite or well-reasoned and deep, either way the depth of the answerers meaning is contained, either explicitly or implicitly, in the statement being provided. If the questioner primarily gets their sense of depth from the unconscious, they will likewise prefer answer that imply the same depth unconsciously. But depth is always, fundamentally, preferred.

I believe that it is partly because we are living in more, and more of an instant world where whatever you want can be obtained at a faster rate. People are putting more emphasis on quantity rather then quality. But it is also my experience that a majority will always be naturally quick to spout something off before putting a lot of thought into it. Look through peoples answers... The ones who give you a short answer usually are guilty of doing it for all answers. The ones who give detailed answers do so for pretty much all other answers as well.

Sometimes the simplest answer really is the best one. There does not always have to be an explanation or a dissection of truth, although I understand that is what philosophy is about. Some people may simply not understand the topic, while others have their own personal truths that result in a simple answer. It all depends on the mindset of the person answering.

people write these answers coz they feel the need to jump on the band wagon or just feel the need to comment without giving thought to a ' proper response' - just a comment.
and sometimes people are sattisfied because maybee they just wanted a reassurance or a quick answer instead of a lecture or an essay.
when you think about it they have the entire web to resaerch a topic if they wanted but instead the take the easy otion and ask a question on here for a quick and simple answer.
i hope this wasnt trite or cheap!

The most common reason for that is - the person who ask question has no capacity in the brain and asked a dumb question, i.e. who will win this fight? a football player or a soccer player? If the person likes football and hates soccer, then he might take 'football players will kick any soccer players' a** anyday' as a satisfying answer, even though these answers are cheap and trite.

Unfortunately today's society, at least in the U.S. is more adapted to quick, trite, and in most cases condescending. There appears to be no time for real conversation, no patience for real dialog, and no real need for any communication skills whatsoever. More is the pity, that we have grown away from that. It is the ability to have true conversation that makes us who we are, and allows free thought, action and associations. I should hope we have not lost it completely, or else we are all doomed.

Some people live by simple truths. They are more intutitive and can accept things at face value. They don't need to think too deeply to get by. Others feel threatened by deeper thought since it's a challenge. They could be lazy or they are afraid of rocking their boat - their models of reality that create a sense of stability and comfort.

This society has become jaded into wanting instant gratification on all matters, including having tough questions, whether philosophical or not, answered in a few mere words. They do not want to have to think for themselves but be fed the "good stuff."
Look at some of the answers you have received to you question.

Because people want immediate as well as easy results . Any answer which have penetrating depth of reason will make the problems more complicated and the result will also be delayed .
