need some seasoned traveler insight.. cheap ways to get around? the sights to see and the places to avoid? i dont want to do the typical tourist thing. im sort of backpacking it.

Luckily, alot of things that can be enjoyed in London is free (like the British Museum and all the great parks). You can always walk along the Thames. There are street performers and lots of things to see. Avoid paying for the London Eye. It's not that great. You can probably get a view of the city from other locations. As for transportation, most sights are accessible by foot. The bus is a cheaper option than the Tube, and sometimes more convenient. Buy food from the grocery store and make your lunches since eating out is super expensive.
