Okay this started back on Feb. 8th, My cat Seagrum went to the vet for watery eye and sneezing, the eye was really bad. We got medicine to put in the eye and nothing, so went back 5 more times with a different medicine each time, one of the visits he had to have fluids...He seemed to get better, eye stoped watery as much. He was really bad, I thought I was gonna lose him. But all of the sudden he got better, the eye completely stoped watering, now it's kind of tearing maybe a tear or two a day, I don't know how to make it stop all together. And neither does the vet. They don't have a clue as to what it was and why he still tears up every now and then. Has anyone had this happen? And what came of it? What should I tell the vet to look for? And I do take care of my animals, I spent on this one incident over a grand to the vet. He acts fine and plays hard all day long. He is 3 years old and very active.

Have him tested for Bordatella. It is a bacteria that sticks around for a really long time and can cause all sorts of symptoms. Antibiotics like doxycycline might clear it up.

Generally, an watery eye is caused by conjunctivitis, which is pretty common in cats. It can be caused by many things including allergies, excessive hard scratching of ears (possibly due to earmites), or possibly something more serious. If it is more serious, it will almost always be accompanied by other symptoms. I had a cat die who had FIP and her first symptom was conjunctivitis. She also had a lot of other major symptons too. Now, my current tabby, Smidgen, gets in every now and then and she is a perfectly healthy cat. My Persian cat, Enis, gets it all the time and is also healthy. This time of year is especially bad for animals and people alike. Since you said that your cat is very active and I assume is eating okay, it's probably not something to worry too much about. If it gets worse or more symptoms pop up, take the fritter back to the vet.

When a cat gets an ulcer on it's eye (usually due to a scratch) it is hard to clear up. The medicine in the eyes probably did a good job, but there may be a re-injury of that site or another new scratch.....watch another couple of days and see if the cat usually has one eye closed. if so, take him back to the vet for more medicine.

My cat's eye has been doing that since he was a baby. He has a build up of nasty brownish stuff and my vet says that it could be allergies but it also could be a leaky tear duct ( which she says happens to alot of cats). I have to clean my cats eye 2-3 times a day usually. Wish I had more info on it but its not as rare as you would think if that makes you feel any better.

My cat had the same problem. It was an allergy. A good vet can give you allergy medicine for your cat--I would suggest a new vet. There is really no way to test a cat for WHAT he is allergic to, so you will just have to give him some kind of broad spectrum allergy meds.

Good luck!

Dont do anything but see an optometrist every now and again. It'll get better. Wish 'em luck!

Go to this website and read their information on this. I could post it here but it is lengthy.
