My son is 19. He had a 12 pack of beer in his vehicle that someone bought for him at a gas station. After leaving the gas station, he was pulled over and given a ticket for minor in possession. I would like to know what the charges are and do I need to get a lawyer? Can he loose his license? Does this go against his license?

My advice to you would be to call the clerk's office and ask them. I'm sure it depends on what town it was. My friend only had to pay a fine when she was charged with a MIP. I believe it is only a misdemeanor. You might be able to negotiate and instead of the fine get community service or something.

You need to consult an attorney or go to legal aid. You might try looking up your state's criminal statutes to see if you can find the answer to this.
