I don't think you need to tell your doctor but you should tell someone. If you want to stop cutting then you should talk to someone a bit more qualified to talk about it. Try a psychologist or a consellor, you can speak to one for free with certain phone lines. They'll help you stop it.
No one deserves to be cut, or feel that they should be cut.

yes, i think you should tell you doctor.
the issue is not really being careful in hurting yourself... the issue is hurting yourself... cutting yourself means that you have a psychological problem. you need all the help you can get if you really WANT to stop yourself.
Believe me, i was once a "cutter"... well, okay... not really a cutter. i used to scratch myself until i have marks and sometimes, i do bleed. that's my way of coping with the emotional pain. I hurt myself to have a physical pain in order temporarily forget the emotional pain. im am not really proud of this but im sharing this to let you know that you are not the only "cutter" here - and there is still a chance for you to change. In my case, all the help i needed was my boyfriend saying that he is hurt too when i hurt myself.
You need professional help in order to stop. In my case, it was a good thing that i had my boyfriend that time. but, believe me, if ever i dont have my emotional pillar that time, i would have gone to a doctor to seek professional help.
This is not something you can do alone.

Oh.....cutting IS dangerous. Don't kid yourself that what you are doing is OK. It's not.
You can get all the advice/suggestions in the world, and if you don't want to stop, not one thing that is said to you is going to matter. So if you WANT to stop, then tell the doctor.

It doesn't matter your age. Cutters come from all walks of life and ages, not just teenagers. And you should tell your doctor because wether it's dnagerous or careful cutting, it's still cutting just the same.

You must tell your Doctor. It is the only way the Doctor can effectively help you. It is dangerous no matter what you are currently thinking. It is a symptom of a problem and must be addressed. Please take this seriously and tell your Doctor. Take Care and remember there are alot of people who care even if they don't know you.

you should definately tell your doctor - maybee you are on the wrong anti depressants? but your doctor will be able to help and or reccomend someone you can talk too about cutting - like what makes you feel the need to cut and help you through it without cutting.
it doesnt matter what age you are - and dont be ashamed about it

My brother's ex did that. She almost killed my niece because cutting herself didn't give her any satisfaction any more so she needed to beat the crap out of something, so she chose my 2yr old niece. She ripped her hair out of her head, beat her with a vaccum cleaner cord, wrapped it around her neck, and shoved her face in a corner repeatedly. This all happened two weeks before Christmas a couple of years ago.
Please tell your doctor. It sounds like bipolar and there are ways that you can be helped with this problem.
p.s. she was almost 30 when she did this. please get help!!!
