I'm 26 and I work 2 jobs. I have standards and the bar crowd doesn't do it for me. Where are all the smart guys at??? Not the dorky ones, but the politically savy ones who like to play scrabble and chess and listen to the Grateful Dead and hug trees??? Sheesh....maybe I'm just too picky???

Does this man exist?????

Iceman... he doesn't have to literally hug a tree, just love the environment and the outdoors.

I disagree that you have to stop looking to find someone. I'm almost 28, and no woman has ever fallen into my lap - whether I was looking or not. If you want something, you have to go get it. You can't just wait for it to come to you.

I do like the idea of joining organizations where the men are likely to have the same interests as you. You could join a tree-hugger group. You could volunteer for a political campaign. Your local library might have a chess or scrabble group - and if they don't, you could try to start one.

Of course they do but they are all out playing chess under a tree extolling the genius of Jerry Garcia...

I would try going to church.

And don't discount the dorky ones... go to your 20 year class reunion and see how man of the guys you thought were complete dorks that have been happily married for a long time with a ton of kids, a house out on the lake.

You want a guy who likes to hug trees? And that's a smart one? Hmmmm.

Seriously, though, I'd find an older, married man with a track record of successful family, business, and community life, who fits your bill and then ask him and his wife to point you in the right direction.

If his wife is someone you really respect, you should also considering asking her to become a personal mentor. Quality women attract quality men, and vice versa. Figure out who your man would want to be with and make yourself more like that. Don't act like someone you're not, just make yourself better.

Guess what.

I'm all of those things and I'm 25 and married.

That's were the rest of them are.

PS. Your description of the perfect guy, he's a dork.
Not kidding either.

If you really like all those things then me and you are both dorks.

My wife is nothing like me or us, but my friends are a sporadic combination of all the above.

Opposites attract, that's why you don't find dorks physically attractive. My wife loves dorks, and partying her *** off, and movie stars, my space. All things I could care less about.

Sounds too liberal for me. Maybe go to a dead concert those guys arent exactly intelligent at times though. Normal intelligent guys still exist though. Why not get a cup of coffee at a Barnes & Nobel?

You don't fish in the bushes but in the stream, Grasshopper. To find these kinds of men, go to where these men go. To churches, to colleges, to folk concerts. You, my dear, are seeking a nerd (a species to which my wife says I belong). Happy Hunting!

Girl, when you find the answer, write a book. You won't have to work too hard anymore and you'll have men all over you. :-) Just e mail me the answer, I can't wait until the book comes out ok?

There's got to be some organization or club where tree huggers get together occasionally! Good luck finding "Mr. Perfect" who you'll find out isn't perfect after all!

I know you are disappointed but don’t give up hi or you’ll find each other. And when you do you’ll know that hi is the one. Love has no borders. Wish you luck.

He exists but you won't find him hanging out at a bar. Join some clubs--social groups, that is...Eventually, you will find him but it will take lots of patience.
