It was water weight. Your true body weight is when you stand on the scales first thing in the morning, w/o clothing.

The answer to this question depends on a lot of factors. While true that you use energy in your sleep to maintain bodily functions, 16 calories per hour of energy expenditure is not going to result in 2 pounds of weight dropping.
Weighing yourself at night is a bad idea. If you ate any food within an hour or so of going to bed you're going to have the weight of that food in your stomach and if you drank any water before bed you will have that water weight in your stomach.
While you sleep your body goes through a process called fasting. Your body absorbs nutrients and carbohydrates from the food you ate throughout the day and oxygen from water is carried throughout your body. This is why in the morning you'll often find you wake up thirsty and/or hungry. This is also why you should always weigh yourself first thing in the morning. When you weigh yourself immediately upon waking up you are doing so with an empty stomach, making water weight and weight from consumed food less of a factor.
Without knowing the particulars of your sleep patterns (for instance if you woke up 3 times that night to go to the bathroom that could the answer right there), that would be my best guess.

yes.you lose weight during sleep and its normal.1)you inhale O2 and exhale CO2 which has heavier molecular weight.2)you bring in dry air and then bring out humidified air by your respiratory system which is also heavier than dry air per unit of volume.so you lose water and carbon in each respiratory cycle.an small amount of water is also is lost by sweating and evaporation.
Dont worry about your scale its might be correct!!

you lost your weight, because when you're sleeping, the energy used to supply food to the organs of the body and also for when you're sleeping, you're sweating at night, that lets out energy, so you lose weight at night because of that what i mentioned above, or your digital scale is lame, or you lose water because of the water is used to prevent dehydration because when you're sleeping, you don't drink water.
