I've been taking Zoloft for a month but the doctor wants to switch me to Lexapro, but I'm not sure.

well if you were only talking it for a month then you should just now be feeling the full effect. I have been taking the max dose of lexapro for the past 2 years (20 mg) and it's worked wonderfully for my depression however they told me it would take about 3 weeks to get my body use to it. So i would question your doctor changing you so soon. Different meds work for different people so we'll see what happens!

I took Zoloft for a year and a half. I hit a plateau where it was no longer working, so I switched to 10 mg. Lexapro. At first, the Lexapro had side effects that I never experienced with the Zoloft. For example, my doctor told me to take Lexapro at night because it makes most people drowsy, at least at first. Instead, it kept me up all night! I started taking it in the morning instead and now I do fine. That was the worst side effect I experienced and it was easily resolved. After I adjusted to the Lexapro, I found that it helped me a little more than the Zoloft did as far as mood control and anxiety.

Wrigley it may take sometime to find the right anti depressant for you. Some people try 4 or 5 different ones before they find one that works best for them. Personally i'm totally against antidepressants all together, because they mess with my mind too much and in the begining you have to wait 2 weeks before side effects wear off before they start to work, then they work your not depressed but not happy either just somewhere blank almost emotionless. Anyway the first time i had lexapro i only had one tablet and it made me paranoid, and suicidal for the following 2 days so i chucked the rest in the bin. If you are prescribed because you have anxiety i believe a benzodiazipine would be better for you like Xanax, Valium, Klonopin stuff like this. I had a bad experience with lexapro but everyone reacts differently it could work for you. All the best feel free to email me if you want any further info am happy to help if i can
