if you are just trying to impress a girl you must mean like at school, party or a similar situation. Being yourself is fine unless being yourself does not let you talk to girls. Talking to them, about what they like, or getting them to talk about themselves is money. Do that and even though you have just been talking all about her for the past ten minutes, it will impress her in that you have taken an interest. Then it all comes easy.
Now if she blows you off, it is not cuz you aren't impressive. She just doesn't dig you. Move on to the next one because there plenty of girls just like that one that will be into you.

on a more serious note... impressing a girl is'nt what you're after. You need someone who will love you for you. If you have to impress someone to get them to go out with you, then your gonna find yourself looking for different ways to impress time and time again...etc... whatever...
Just dont change who you are and stand up for what you believe in.
