Well i didn't ask but my fiance asked me last December and told me he was thinking about since last summer, so yeah I guess he stewed on it for months!!
It was funny cause he tried to make it so romantic. He took me to this gazebo by his house. I was sick as a dog and it was freezing outside. Well, we started walking up to the gazebo that was all decorated in lights and was gorgeous but we were walking through mud on the way up!!! So our shoes and bottoms of our pantlegs were covered with mud! (I'm sure that wasn't part of the romantic plan...) I'm glad the whole thing didn't turn out "perfect". Now i have a funny story to go along with one of the greatest nights of my life! I think it gives character and was perfect for us!!

I planned it for a few months, but my plans kind of got changed when she started getting a little suspicious as to why i wanted to take her to a certain place. LOL So i had to improvise some new plans, but it was just as romantic.
I think creating a romantic atmosphere is important when proposing because it shows you really care about the person & you want to make their lives special.
If you just walk into the bathroom one day while your bf/gf is sitting on the toilet & you say "Will you marry me?" and toss a ring at them ... what does that say about the future of the relationship? lol

I planned for a month or so. Most of the time was just figuring out what to actually do.
I ended up taking her to an Italian restaurant with a really nice atmosphere. I reserved a table a bit more out of the way than most of the others so it would be somewhat private. We had a lovely dinner and dessert. Afterwards, I gave her a photo album I made of all the places we'd been - sort of a collage. On the very next to last page was a little speech I read to her and I flipped to "Will you marry me?" will little frills.
Took a lot of effort to get the photo album done, but it was worth it.

I suggested to my partner of 8 years that it might be a sensible move to get hitched. I asked him in our local greek restuarant (not very romantic not even the candles on the tables were lit) over the second bottle of wine. It was completely out of the blue - he'd even told me when we got together that if I ever asked him to marry me he would leave. He didn't. Two months later we were Mr and Mrs. Awww.

I think you should plan it and make it as romantic as possible.
I didnt and my wife even though we have been married a long time, i didnt propose we just got married and even now i think she deserves, better, so i am planning to renew vowells and this time propose in a way she will never forget as she has missed out on that so far. She deserves it

With my first hubby I left notes all over the house asking him to marry me. The marriage lasted 14mths after I found out he had someone else pregnant 2 weeks before our wedding.
I was engaged 2 years ago, it was a mutual desision (very romantic!!) We split over a year ago

He asked me..
We was on holiday in Dominica Republic, whilst on a day trip to a private island, he went done on one knee..
He was nervous (although he knew i would say yes), he was snorkelling at the island for ages... but I later found out he was out there trying to collect his nerves.. bless him!
I knew it was coming, but didn't know how or when...
Yes i think it was a very romantic atmosphere... one i will remember forever!x

When my husband asked me to marry him it was sudden, out of the blue, we were driving home from school. I would have perferred something more planned out and romantic though.

No point in trying to create the perfect moment, life rarely works out like that, but you can do a lot to make it more likely - trip away somewhere etc
Guys only stew if they're not sure of the answer ;-)
