People want to be a part of something. As Gods sprit strives less and less on this planet it is going to be very hard to find true religion or people to take to it because they are to caught up in satans snares.

Moreso people do not want to be obedaint to Gods commandments. It is hard in this wicked world. Religions like wicca and meditation allow you to live life the way you pretty much want to. Hence that is why Christianty is going down the drain. That is also a very good indicator that the second coming is close look how wicked this world is becoming.

If you want further reference to these ? and a standpoint from a religion maybe different then yours check out www.lds.org

Traditional religions are not becoming extinct. Actually they are still very popular. Except for the fact that their are some, who feel the religions are not furfilling them because they are over ruled my male dominant beliefs. Most individuals that convert to nature religions are not trying to escape from god, they are actaully trying to bond with nature and the universe. When you attempt to bond with god alone sometimes you only see the negative within others. When you bond with nature, you usually feel that you have a bond with others, and that others are equal to you. I am not only talking about wicca, I am also talking about other nature religions. The reason I said this is because I have found some people who use wicca or otehr forms of the craft to do evil acts.

I'd offer that people are recognizing that "God" is in fact a higher power - of whatever shape, name or form (s) you wish to give it.

And that the key is that this higher power comes from a place of our true core and the core of the energies of the universe - which is love.

Maybe they are tired of the 'wrathful', 'exacting' God of old - which is in many ways the construct of actual religions and the people behind them who created them.

Religion in the past has been used as a way to get control, influence and has unfortunately not come from the very place that it is said to have come from - a place of love.

So I would offer that people are simply looking for an alternative, as organized religion in its traditional form no longer 'cuts the mustard' - we know now as a society that we don't 'have to' do anything - that we can choose.

And that to give before looking to get, means we receive so much more.

We are moving from Religion to Spirituality.

For those that go down the 'God is a Mother' route - again it is suggesting humankinds need for nurturing - and it must of course begin with ourselves.

Wicca in of itself is more about self responsibility, and working with the energies of the Universe from a place of love - and of course 'ye harm none'.

If you want to get pragmatic - consumerism at it's orgins was based on meeting a customers needs (these days of course it often creates them for them) and is about offering a solution to a problem.

This is what religion has done in the past. With people turning to more nature based beliefs - it is still to fulfil a need and solve a 'problem'.

We live in a world where 'customer choice' is king. We have learnt to pick and choose our TV channels from thousands on offer, our meals from the cuisine of the whole world and our friends from across the globe.

And people apply the same choices in beliefs. They pick what they feel most suits them. And perhaps a belief system that says 'this is the truth and everything else is wrong' doesn't appeal to everyone.

Plus somewhere like this you can ask a real Wiccan, Satanist or Ásatrú what they actually believe and practice. 20 years ago that simply wasn't possible.

So while beliefs still exist they are becoming more diverse.

Nature religions make more sense. Sometimes I entertain the idea of Wicca. It's difficult to follow god at times. At least with nature you can somewhat control whats going on around you.

Could be a trick by the New World Order to create a one world religion?? I'm still trying to figure this one out myself. Read about Madame Blavatsky and also the Thule society.

maybe it just resonates with people. i know i couldn't accept a patriarchal 'god', and turned to the goddess instead a few years ago. but since then i've come to the conclusion that there is no personified deity & they are all symbolic. but i would have never gotten to this point without first expanding my view of 'god' in the first place.

nature based religions & spirituality encourage people to find their own path, and to do the work themselves. i feel that it is more inspiring & empowering than doing things by rote & dogma.

Technically God is neither male or female but a spirit person and as such doesn't have a human body but a spirit body.
That is not flesh and blood. He did make the earth and everything in it and made it for people to enjoy it is humans who have taken a wonderful gift and tried to tear it up and kill other humans.

.What will heaven be like, what will we do?

(Luke 20:27-35) 27 However, some of the Sadducees, those who say there is no resurrection, came up and questioned him, 28 saying: “Teacher, Moses wrote us, ‘If a man’s brother dies having a wife, but this one remained childless, his brother should take the wife and raise up offspring from her for his brother.’ 29 Accordingly there were seven brothers; and the first took a wife and died childless. 30 So the second, 31 and the third took her. Likewise even the seven: they did not leave children behind, but died off. 32 Lastly, the woman also died. 33 Consequently, in the resurrection, of which one of them does she become [the] wife? For the seven got her as wife.” 34 Jesus said to them: “The children of this system of things marry and are given in marriage, 35 but those who have been counted worthy of gaining that system of things and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage.

(1 Corinthians 15:50) 50 However, this I say, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit God’s kingdom, neither does corruption inherit incorruption.

(1 Corinthians 15:40-41) . . .heavenly bodies, and earthly bodies; but the glory of the heavenly bodies is one sort, and that of the earthly bodies is a different sort. 41 . . .

(1 Corinthians 15:35) . . .: “How are the dead to be raised up? Yes, with what sort of body are they coming?”

(Revelation 5:9-10) . . .blood you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.”

Because it's better for the human psyche to view spirituality that way.

By-the-by, meditation is not a religion.
