I started a 1200 calorie diet last week. In addition to the Diet I go to the gym and do 40 min of aerobic at or above my Target heart rate, and about a half hour of Weight lifting. In my first week I lost 4 pounds! Over the St. Patricks day weekend, I cheated on my diet but didn't gain any wait, and by Tuesday of this week I was down another 1.5 lbs! What's going on? I have never been able to loose weight easily. I am excited but I don't want to get my hopes up of reaching an unrealistic goal quickly. (I am in the Slightly overweight catagory for my height and weight)

No that's normal. Especially the first week when you lose water weight too.

I don't know your height, but make sure your calorie intake is appropriate for your size and activity.

The most important thing is exercise. You increase your resting metabolism which means you burn weight while you rest and sit. This actually is actually the more beneficial part of exercising (rather than the immediate fat burn).

Make sure you use the appropriate level of resistance. You don't want it so easy that you can do a lot of them without needing a break. You should be able to do 15 and need a break. Don't worry about muscles if you don't want them. You can stop once you reach a point you don't want to go further.

Make sure your diet isn't so strict that it's hard to stay on course.

Just avoid certain foods rather than restrict your intake. For instance: Roast chicken instead of fried chicken. Baked potatoes instead of french fries. Diet cola instead of regular cola.

Yes you will hit a plane. Keep up the good work.

The diet your on will not help you get healthy. I don't know your height but I would suggest going up to a 1600 to 1800 calorie diet and maintain you current work out.

If you keep working out like you are and eating so little you body is going to break down and you'll get sick easier.

A slight cheating doesn't make you gain immediately. Obviously, you struck the right combination of diet and exercise. So, be happy and continue. A little cheating once in a while is fun! Best wishes.
