Well, first of all you are thinking of spending way too much. The average ring costs just under 1K! You can buy anywhere, just look around and do some comparisons, choose what you want within your budget. A mature woman appreciates any ring, because she understands the symbolism, not caring about the size or cost.

Well, mine didn't cost that much, but it isn't a whole kart either. Mine came from Zales and he actually talked them down on the price. But Zales gives you a life time warranty. As long as I take my ring every 6 months to have it cleaned for free, if the stone ever falls out, they replace it for free. Pretty good deal if you ask me. And, my ring is beautiful! Good Luck!

Any reputable jewelry store sells engagement rings. You may even be able to get a deal on the wedding rings. My friend and her husband got their rings from Rogers and Holland and they got one price for all three: the engagment ring, and both wedding rings. Congrats on your upcoming engagment. Hope she says yes.

My best advice is to go to a local jeweller, and to go for quality over quantity. Mine came from a local shop in business fro many many years who was very willing to explain things to my fiance and give him a variety of things to choose from. The was my fiance's price range, and I got a very lovely ring...stay away from chain stores like Kay--they don't have anything original there.

Honestly, I've found that Kays has some VERY nice rings for very decent prices. That's where i'm going to be getting my g/f's ring at. :-)
Good Luck. :-)

I would DEFINETLY go to Robbins Brothers....it's the "world's biggest engagment ring store", my b/f, now fiance, just proposed to me, and he got my ring from there and it is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! Look at it...

It's 2 karats, and I don't think that he went over $6k for the ring. They even have FREE wedding planning services, which is a HUGE burden off of the bride-to-be....
GOOD LUCK!

Try pawn shops! You can get the diamond, and have it mounted in a new setting for much less than your high end jewelry stores!
