You're right - some Christians do this. And there are also some Athiests who read the Christian questions - and answer in a way that's not too nice. I believe there are mean people all around - in every group.
Why do they bother to read the questions if they are so offended? I think it's because they are argumentative - and mean.
Just ignore them!

Hello. I don't know how many Christians actually get offended by Atheist questions, since I myself am a Christian and take no offence whatsoever. However, since I have not conferred with any other Christians on this query, and can neither speak for the majority of us, I can not know as to how many Christians do get offended. My view is that Christians should not take offence at contrasting beliefs, such as Atheism, since it is based on disbelief (personal opinion).
Other Christians view Atheists as having a 'greater faith' and others a 'blind faith', since actually believing in the non-existence of a higher Being requires 'too much faith for the Christian', because the evidences of the existence of a Creator Being are too numerous too count.
Then again, if you were to have the same understanding as the well known author, speaker and television show host Ray Comfort, then you would conclude that Atheists do not even exist! He has written a book titled 'God Doesn't Believe In Atheists'.

I think that Christians answer Atheist-related questions to share the truth with which they have accepted in themselves, the knowledge of Jesus the Christ and His Gospel. No doubt, for passionate believers, the belief (or non-belief) in THE all-powerful Being/Creator is a core motivation for how they live and what makes up a large portion of their identity. Who isn't interested in challenges to their identity, I ask you?
Thanks.
Gman.

Mean Christians crack me up. It kinda goes against the idea of Christianity....
People like to be right, an atheist really gets under the craw of some Christians. I guess they get upset and have to comment in order to justify their own beliefs.
I had a great uncle that was an atheist, he was married to my great aunt, a Christian. They were both school teachers and lived well into their 90's. They were my first example of how people can have opposing belief systems and yet, still live together, love together and get along. To me, they represent the epitome of both belief systems and the American way. Tolerance for anothers beliefs.

usually when it is done (yes it is done) its done out of response to mean & offensive questions directed towards christians. There was one person who said on his post, he purposly asks the insulting questions just because he likes getting the reactions. Then when he gets what he wants he can accuse them of not being christians.
If a sincere question is being asked, then there is not any meaness, except from the athiests. Athiests do it for kicks, christians do it from defense.

No, no, no. Christians don't do it to be mean. They honestly believe that they have a duty to show non-believers that they are wrong. Now, I will admit some of them are hard in their approach to it, but they really don't want anyone to burn in hell. That's what they believe will happen to them.
I am a Christian, and personally I don't believe you can be mean and scare the hell out of anyone. If the love Jesus had for us doesn't draw you to HIM, then any fear generated by not wanting to burn in hell is temporary at best.
I hope I helped you understand and did not offend you. Thanks for letting me share.

I will answer any question about Christianity or God if it's asked in a sincere manner. If it's clear to me that that the asker is merely mocking God, it would be unfruitful to answer, so I move on to another question.

Im sure they do. And I confess to being a pagan that sometimes answers christian questions just so that I can return the favor. In answer to your 2nd question, I would say that they dont want to let an oppurtunity go by to try and proseletise others.
