I just watched the movie again. They have a 3 gallon jug and a 5 gallon jug. How do they manage to fill one with exactly 4 gallons?

They take the 3 gallon and fill it up.
Pour that 3 gallons into the 5 gallon jug
Fill up the 3 again and pour it in the 5 which leaves them with 1 left over in the 3 gallon. They pour out the 5 and pour the 1 into the 5.
Then they fill the three up again and pour it into the 5 which adds onto the 1 that is in there giving them four.

They half fill each bottle with water. (5/2) 2.5 and (3/2) 1.5=4 gallons
