Because giving amnesty in the past, was the BIGGEST MISTAKE this country ever made!!!
When Reagan granted amnesty in the 1980's there were only 2- 4 million illegals here. TODAY, there is an ESTIMATE of between 11-30 million illegals here!!!! And, with more sneaking in daily!!!
The ONLY thing that amnesty does, is create even MORE illegals sneaking into this country in the hope that THEY will get amnesty next time!!!!
And, the ILLEGALS who are sneaking in here today, do NOT want to be part of America!!!! They just want to RAPE this country for what they can get, but STILL remain "mexicans"!!!

We never did "always granted amnesty or adjust status." Take a look at a shipping manifest for anything US bound through Ellis Island and you'll see some strict standards, and the fact that many were rejected.

There are a lot of factors that enter into decisions on amnesty and immigrants.Foreign policy, humanitarian grounds, national security, worker shortages, the private adgendas of immigration managers, and of course the fickleness of public impressions garnered from media spin doctors.
Canada has involved itself in changing other countries cultural practices by declaring refugee status to certain groups and indeviduals. Do we have that right? what if another country does that to us, to Canada? Would we like that?
We have one of the highest percentages of per capita immigrants in the world. That's OK, as long as the flow doesn't lower our standard of living. I wouldn't want to see my children's children living in a country that has imported all the problems and strife that our immigrants have tried to get away from.
I think we should become more selective in our policy and be seen as less deirable of a refugee destination.

Things have changed since 9-11 and because of that things are looked at differently. Plus with how expensive health care is and Mexicans getting free health care without paying into it is a great leverage to encourage the anger of Americans to push this out in the open toward change.
I however feel bad for the many people falling between the cracks ..

Too many, way too many this time. Sometimes you have to draw a line and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Especially when there is extreme lack of birth control, and a refusal to assimilate.
Bill Gates just wants to sell more Windows operating systems to Mexicans. Don't think for one minute that he cares about poor Mexicans, he wants you to come here make money and buy computers. He's the world's richest "greedy-takeover" dork.

We didn't always do it. It's painfully obvious how a kind gesture has blown up in our faces. Give em an inch and they demand a mile. Amnesty now would be a nightmare with so many un-willing to adapt to life here and are causing such an uproar across the nation. Not to mention the massive numbers.....

Reagan did it when there were 4 million. But he said we should close the borders. It didn't get done. Now there are at least 20 million more. They cost America 30 to 60 BILLION every year. The Mexican government sends them here to prop up their government. Nobody asks why parasites should be removed from the host they just do it. Enough is enough. Why can't they protest at home?Change their country and make it successful. Instead of bringing ours down.

Because it obviously hasn't worked. They gave amnesty in the 80's and the problem has only gotten worse since then.

because in the past those immigrants WANTED to speak English, they only cared about the AMERICAN flag. some even enlisted just to serve a country they barely knew. and back then there was no such thing as a free ride.
