Old friend since high school emails me again after many years and we start talking online.He said that I was the love of his life and that if we had stayed together we would have gotten married. He was going through a divorce last year and was living with a woman who he says she is not the love of his life but that she was there for him and cannot hurt her now by breaking up with her even though he says they are mentally and sexually incompatible. When I told him how I felt for him, he changed his story and said that all he can offer me is friendship. However, his behavior proves otherwise. He also sometimes will read my emails 6-10 times over and over. I have means of tracking the emails so I know. I mentioned to him that i am in his area because of business and would love to see you again and your new girlfriend. After reading my email the 11 th time, he send me an email saying how is so busy.etc..he makes up excuses. why won't he see me?

You're an idealized fantasy for him. He doesn't want to ruin that fantasy by actually seeing you and becoming involved with you.
He has issues. It's not you, it's him (I'm not just saying that. It really IS him). Don't let him play around with your feelings. Stop sending him e-mails and tracking how many times he reads them. Go find yourself somebody who is willing to get involved with the real, flesh-and-blood YOU.

He is feeling unfulfilled in his relationship, and he remembers his highschool sweetheart fondly.... perhaps imagining a booty call, but when you tell him you have feelings for him he gets nervous and backtracks and says friendship only. If he really did have strong feelings for you...... he would break off the relationship he is in now. He doesnt want you to meet his new girlfriend becasue that would just be to messy. DON'T meet him, dont even talk to him anymore..... he doesnt have any real feelings for you OR his current flame, he's just a cheating dog.

what did you tell him that you liked him or didnt'.
if you said you did like him or the feelings were mutual. he's probably so excited that he's scared sh!tless.
if you said u didn't, i wouldn't want to be around you either it'll cause pain.
