The answer has to be two. JW's always come in pairs. One is usually a student and the other an older, more mature member. One usually does most of the talking while the other smiles and observes. One could hold the lightbulb while the other climbed the ladder?

I can do one by myself, but two are always better than one.
As Ecc. 4:9 & 10 says "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their hard work. For if one of them should fall, the other one can raise his partner up. But how will it be with just the one who falls when there is not another to raise him up?"

The last time i saw them doing it, it took two, who were in the house to house work. Apparently the elderly lady across the street ask them if they would be willing to change the bulb on her porch light, and they obliged in doing so.

1 Witness, then several nonWitnesses to go around saying we put the bulb in wrong:)
Another answer is 1 however, since I am rather limited in things I can do, all I need do is ask, or for that matter wait for one to see the bulb is out, and a Multitude will offer to come.

I am not sure. What would they do at Bethel? Is changing light bulbs required?

One to beg for a light bulb. One to screw it into the sockit. One to flip the switch. One to say praise the lord when the lights come on and one thousand to run around town beating on doors and telling people what they have done in the name of the lord. So one thousand and four i guess.

They don't need to, there all shining lights. Well that's what they told me.
I just hope they don't lighten my doorstep again.
