The Great Salt Lake is, of course, quite famous and much associated with Salt Lake City. It is approximately 75 miles long and 40 miles wide.
Despite its high name-recognition, it is really not much used for boating. The high salt content is hard on power boats and swimmers, and there are no fish in the lake.
There is however an active group of sailors who use a marina at the south end of the lake just off I-80. For information on their activities and opportunities for sailing, please visit the Great Salt Lake Yacht Club website.

There are brine shrimp. That's about it if you exclude the really gross flies that are on the edge of the lake. No fish (unless Superfish decided to take up residence there).
