What kind of shower wall material is the best to maintain and look good?

We build a new house, like to know what is the best shower we should use.

Tile is the easiest to maintain. It starts out looking good and continues to with proper (but easy) maintenance. Fiberglass and plastic showers have a tendency to yellow over the years. They also are more prone to scratching. You need to be very careful what cleaners you use on them. This is one of those situations where you will not want to be replacing the unit so do not go by original cost, consider the lifetime of the material used.
